Earn College Credit in High School

For more than 20 years, Matteo Ricci Institute has been offering college courses in local Catholic high schools through our Consortium Program. College level courses are taught by qualified high school faculty under the supervision of Seattle University faculty. Students who successfully complete the course(s) and pay the associated fees are eligible to earn college credit. The college credit is transferable to most colleges and universities.

The four participating Seattle-area high schools currently include:

Registration

  • Fall: Registration is open from October 2 - October 19. An email will be sent to all eligible students upon the opening of registration. Course selection and payment is required to complete the registration process within the registration period. There will be no option to add any fall class after the closing of fall registration.
  • Spring registration for MATH 1335 will be open from February 2 - February 22. Students eligible to register will receive an email with registration details.

Email matteoricci@seattleu.edu with any questions.

Each course is a 5-quarter credit equivalent and costs $425.

Note that there is no impact on federal financial aid of starting college courses in the high school, as students are enrolled as non-matriculated, pursuing a course and not a full program of study. As such, they are not eligible for federal or state financial aid. There is no negative impact on your capacity to pursue the full benefits of federal financial aid that may be available to you when a matriculated program of study is pursued.

Families may use their GET account to pay for these credits. As there is not a time limit on using the GET funds, starting early has no impact. Please email matteoricci@seattleu.edu to coordinate payment, and to ensure the GET funds are delivered to the account holder. If you have any additional questions, don't hesitate to reach out to us at matteoricci@seattleu.edu.

Transcripts can be ordered to show registration at any time after registration has been processed, which will be confirmed with an email.

However, only after grades have been submitted and processed will a final transcript, including the final grade, be available. Fall semester MATH 1334 grades have been posted. All other classes are not yet final and grades will be posted on July 1.

Information on how to order transcript information is available here.

Seattle University offers no refunds for withdrawing from a Matteo Ricci course, unless a student needs to withdraw from the high school.
