Dr. Bonnie Bowie, (PhD, MBA, RN, FAAN) Premera Endowed Professor of Nursing in Health Promotion and Care Innovations, has accepted the invitation to be a CEIE Faculty Fellow for the 2026 Academic Year. During her fellowship, Dr. Bowie will focus on a scholarship project on Viral Realities and Moral Injury: From HIV/AIDS to Post-Covid Realities, a project that also builds on the themes of the CEIE 2025 volume Gratitude, Injury, and Repair in a Pandemic Age. (Georgetown U. Press). Drawing from her professional expertise and interdisciplinary insights, Dr. Bowie will explore how communities and individuals have navigated moral injury across pandemics, with particular attention to themes of care, resilience, and the role of leadership in times of crisis.
As part of her fellowship, Dr. Bowie will present her work during the International Interfaith Harmony Week Speaker Series on Thursday, February 5th, 2026, at Seattle University, hosted by CEIE, where she will engage the Seattle University community in a public reflection on pandemic-era challenges and ethical responsibilities. Dr. Bowie is also contributing a written piece to the popular international online journal, The Interfaith Observer, linking her research to contemporary questions of religious liberty and freedom of expression. In addition, Dr. Bowie has agreed to participate on CEIE’s Advisory Council for the 2026 Academic Year, heightening the importance of her scholarship and professional leadership to the broader commons.
