RISE - Read, Inspire, Support, Educate

RISE - Read, Inspire, Support, Educate - places Seattle University students in early learning classrooms to facilitate social emotional development and kindergarten readiness.

RISE works with students at five locations in Central Seattle:

  • Bailey Gatzert Elementary
  • CISC at Yesler Community Center
  • LAUNCH at Madrona Elementary
  • Denise Louis Education Center at Yesler Terrace
  • RISE teachers participate in a five-week training series during the fall of each academic year, prior to entering the classroom, with classroom participation beginning each January. Training is ongoing throughout the year.
  • Teachers spend a minimum of four hours each week in the classroom (two sessions per week for two hours each).
  • Classroom sessions with scholars focus on literacy, language, and social-emotional learning.
  • Classroom sessions last around 18 weeks, January through June.
  • Tuition is free for all families
