RISE - Read, Inspire, Support, Educate

Redhawks RISE - Read, Inspire, Support, Educate: Developing Seattle University student leaders to read, inspire, support and educate Pre-K scholars in the community, helping them thrive at the beginning of their academic journey.

Our RISE Vision:
Redhawks RISE (Read, Inspire, Support, Educate) engages Seattle University student leaders to deliver meaningful literacy, language and social-emotional learning curriculum to Pre-K classrooms across Seattle. Through intentional mentorship, collaboration and support, RISE fosters inclusive and engaging activities that enrich classroom experiences and nurture a love of learning. We strive to build a connection with scholars that has a lasting positive impact on their educational journey.

RISE places Seattle University students in multiple early learning classrooms at four locations in Central Seattle:

  • RISE teachers are trained during the fall of each academic year, prior to entering the classroom, with classroom participation beginning each January. Training is ongoing throughout the year.
  • Teachers spend a minimum of four hours each week in the classroom (two sessions per week for two hours each).
  • Classroom sessions with scholars focus on literacy, language and social-emotional learning.
  • Classroom sessions last around 18 weeks, January through June.
  • Tuition is free for all families
