Allison Henrich, PhD

Professor

Allison Henrich's research is in knot theory and recreational mathematics. She is currently the editor of MAA FOCUS, the newsmagazine of the Mathematical Association of America.

Biography

Allison Henrich’s professional interests include mathematical research on knots and games, especially research in collaboration with undergraduate, high school, and graduate students. She is passionate about creating a welcoming environment in the mathematics community, a space in which everyone can explore fun and creative mathematical ideas.

Education

Dr. Henrich received a B.S. in Mathematics and B.A. in Philosophy from the University of Washington in 2003; and a M.A. and Ph.D. in Mathematics from Dartmouth College in 2008. She has been on faculty at Seattle University since 2009.

Courses Taught

Allison enjoys working with students who don’t see themselves as “math people” or as mathematicians. She finds it a meaningful challenge to guide students to see what they are capable of.
