Where Academic Rigor Meets Care for the Whole Person

Since being established in 1935, Seattle University nursing programs have prepared highly regarded and compassionate health care professionals who advance health equity and improve outcomes for individuals and communities across the Pacific Northwest and beyond.

Our graduates emerge as well-educated nurses and nurse practitioners, committed to serving society with purpose, valuing teamwork and collaboration, and contributing to safe, high quality and accessible health care locally and globally.

Academically Excellent Nursing Programs

Seattle University prepares nursing students with the strong academic foundation and hands-on clinical experience needed to thrive in a health care system that increasingly relies on their expertise. Our goal is to develop leaders who are both clinically competent and confident in managing today’s complex patient care challenges.

Our nurses and nurse practitioners are known not only for their advanced clinical skills, but also for the compassion and integrity they bring to every patient interaction.

Whole Person Education in a Health Care Setting

As part of the Jesuit and Catholic tradition of educating the whole person, we live our values of compassion, respect and equity throughout all learning experiences.

With our student-centered classes and committed educators, we’ll see and understand you as a full human being with intersecting identities and varied lived experiences as well as unique academic, physical, spiritual and emotional needs.

You’ll learn in an academically challenging yet caring environment where you’re encouraged to bring your full self to our learning settings.

"Many nursing courses incorporated multidisciplinary ways of problem solving which challenged me to think about nursing care holistically versus focusing solely on the immediate health concern. The classes at SU go beyond teaching just the foundational skills of nursing and urge me to think about the ethical and social dynamics that contribute to our health care system."
