A Look at the Program
As a new initiative, the CSE Mentor Program is excited to welcome its inaugural group of successful professionals and alumni who are volunteering their time to mentor students. From October to June, a small group of students will meet with a mentor to discuss professional development, career paths, and industry experiences. The groups have the flexibility to design their own activities, which may include discussing real-world projects, offering insights into a company's operations, or even helping students prepare for job interviews. While the time commitment is flexible, most groups will meet every 4 to 6 weeks, with each setting its own agenda and goals.
What We Look for in a Mentor
We are looking for professionals across the career spectrum—whether you're just starting out, continuing your own learning journey, or have years of experience—who share a passion for education and want to share their knowledge with students. Our students come from a wide range of academic backgrounds, and we are seeking mentors from all fields within the College of Science and Engineering, including but not limited to engineering, computer science, biotechnology, data science, environmental science, chemistry, and physics. Alumni often find that serving as a mentor is a fulfilling way to give back and stay connected to the university.
