About this Degree

In our multi-disciplinary program, you will enjoy a great range of courses offered by academic departments throughout the college. You will gain a special expertise favored by many graduate programs and professions in today's society. The program aims to prepare you to work for different sectors, as well as for advanced studies. Your major in Asian Studies will prepare you to undertake entry-level professional jobs in the realm of Asian commerce, communication, or social justice work, or continue on to advanced studies of Asian and international studies in a variety of disciplines.

Admission Deadlines for Transfer Students

  • Fall Quarter (priority): March 1
  • Fall Quarter (final): August 1
  • Winter Quarter (January start): November 1
  • Spring Quarter (March start): February 15

Preparing to Transfer to Seattle University

GPA Requirement:

  • Suggested Cumulative GPA: 3.0

Coursework:

  • College-level Math
     Example: Statistics, College Algebra, SAT scores, AP scores, high school transcripts
  • College-level English                                                                                                         Example: English Composition, SAT scores, AP scores, high school transcripts

 

Students who meet all admissions requirements and suggested coursework listed here can anticipate graduating in two years. Review additional information about major requirements and optional courses to take prior to enrollment.

  • Three quarters of Foreign Language SU Equivalent: Language 1150, 1250, and 1350
  • HIST 1210 Studies in Modern Civilization
  • Direct Transfer Associate’s Degree (DTA) Recommended

Only required if English is not one of your first or native languages. More ways to meet the English proficiency requirement include the ELS, PTE scores, high school transcripts, bachelor’s degrees and more.

College Coursework:

  • 45 transferable quarter credits
  • 3.0 in English Composition
  • Minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA

Students who complete an approved Associates degree (DTA) will be guaranteed junior standing (90 quarter transfer credits) upon admission to Seattle University, and 8 of the 12 University Core requirements (including all of UCOR Module I) will be waived. The following Core courses must be taken at SU or another Jesuit institution:

  • UCOR 2100 Theological Explorations
  • UCOR 2500 Philosophy of the Human Person
  • UCOR 2910 Business Ethics

Students who complete an Associate of Science-Transfer Track 1 or 2 degree will also be guaranteed junior standing (90 quarter transfer credits) and at least 7 of the 12 University Core requirements will be waived. In addition to the courses listed above, AS-T students who have not completed applicable transfer equivalent coursework may need to take one of the following courses at SU:

  • UCOR 1300 Creative Expression
  • UCOR 1400 Inquiry Seminar in Humanities
  • UCOR 1600 Inquiry Seminar in Social Sciences
