Vigil of Remembrance and Reconciliation

Dear Seattle University Community,
Next Tuesday marks the one-year anniversary of the murder of George Floyd. To acknowledge his life and pray for continued healing, peace and progress toward justice, we will gather for a Vigil of Remembrance and Reconciliation at 12:30 p.m. on Tuesday, May 25, via Zoom.
As was brought home powerfully during this week’s Racial Equity Summit, our work to dismantle systemic racism is just beginning, yet it is very much underway. Continuing on this path together, it is important for us to pause, reflectively take stock of the responsibilities that are central to our university’s mission and pray for the wisdom and resolve to effect real and lasting change.
Let us honor the memory of George Floyd and all whose lives have been taken by acts of hatred, racism and indifference as we stand and act in solidarity with those subjected to racial injustice and inequities in all forms.
Sincerely,
Stephen V. Sundborg, S.J.
