Kyle Bjornethun, '21, will be inducted into the Athletics Hall of Fame for his exceptional career on the Redhawk men’s soccer team.
Bjornethun was a standout defender from 2013-2016, leading the team to tournament championships in 2013 and 2015. In both seasons, the Redhawks advanced to the second round of the NCAA tournament, with big wins over Creighton and UCLA.
In his freshman season, Bjornethun was named 2013 WAC Freshman of the Year, Second Team All-WAC and NSCAA Second Team All-West Region. He earned numerous awards in subsequent years, including being named to the prestigious 2016 MAC Hermann Watch List, the highest honor in college soccer. In 2017, Bjornethun became the third player in program history to be picked in the MLS SuperDraft, selected by the Seattle Sounders FC.
