In the era of climate crisis and pronounced natural disasters across the globe, CERF+, the Artists Safety Net has a mission to safeguard and sustain artists' careers through education, advocacy, network building, and emergency relief. ARTL Adjunct Faculty Claudia Bach, who is the principal and founder of AdvisArts Consulting, was brought on by CERF+ to conduct field research on existing and potential work in this realm, and develop a roadmap for future CARP pilot projects. To support this research, Claudia engaged Katy Hannigan, MFA '17 and founder of Thread Support, as an associate on the project, building on their connection forged through MFAL coursework and previous consulting projects. Together, Claudia and Katy conducted research interviews, held focused conversations, and did a deep dive into artist-focused emergency support with stakeholders around the country.
