Rachel’s research and scholarly interests include LGBTQ+ affirmative counseling, intersectionality, disability justice, complex trauma, and counselor training.

Biography

Rachel Henesy is a faculty member in the Seattle University Counseling master’s program. Rachel earned an MAE in Mental Health Counseling and a PhD in Counseling & Counselor Education from the University of Florida. Rachel has experience as a clinician in a variety of community settings, and has worked with individuals, couples, and families. Rachel has also worked in crisis stabilization and crisis response. Rachel also holds graduate certificates in Women’s Studies (UF) and LGBT Health Policy & Practice (George Washington University). Areas of expertise include LGBTQ+ affirmative counseling, crisis intervention, complex trauma, and autism.
