Statement on Immigration Executive Order

January 28, 2017

Dear Students, Faculty and Staff:

Yesterday afternoon, President Trump signed an Executive Order banning non-immigrants of certain countries (Iran, Iraq, Libya, Somalia, Sudan, Syria and Yemen) from entering the United States for the next 90 days. The Executive Order appears to apply even to those with valid visas or previously issued green cards, and news reports indicate that non-immigrants from the listed countries are being turned away at the border and at airports.

Although further information about the Order is limited at this time, university advises all faculty, students, and staff who may be affected by the Order to avoid leaving the United States. University Counsel’s office, the Office of Global Engagement and the International Student Center will be following this situation closely in the coming days and will provide more information as it becomes available.

Sincerely,
Robert Dullea
Interim Provost
