Biography

I grew up in western Massachusetts, where two fantastic high school teachers introduced me to Latin and the ancient Roman world. I majored in Classics at Amherst College and spent a semester abroad in Rome (the ICCS, better known as the Centro), which exposed me to archaeology and history in an immediate and compelling way. So while I still loved Classical languages and literature, I studied history and archaeology at the University of California, Berkeley, where I received my Ph.D. in 2014. My interests lie in human mobility and group dynamics in the ancient Mediterranean, and my research has focused on Sicily as a site of particularly significant interactions. I work at the site of Morgantina in Sicily with the Contrada Agnese Project, and I am currently preparing a book manuscript on Sicilian mobility and citizenship in the fourth and third centuries BCE.
