Description: Come and support a zero-waste athletics event! SU’s Athletic Department, Recycling Department, and Green Team—in conjunction with Recyclemania-will be hosting zero waste event to raise awareness of proper waste disposal and the zero waste efforts here on campus. We will be collecting all the waste produced from the game, sorting the materials and conducting a waste audit to see how clean each of the streams are.

Description: On March 11, you'll see a "mound of waste" at the Library Plaza: one day's worth of SU's waste will be collected to then be sorted by staff, faculty, and students. Have any questions about "what goes where"? Stop by and ask the experts from SU's recycling crew and student-led Green Team. Or come and help sort at this campus waste-audit. Even 5 minutes of sorting can be an educational and eye-opening moment to find out how much of SU's trash could actually be diverted from the landfill! Students, staff and faculty are invited to attend and learn about recycling in Seattle and become a Green Team waste expert. Description: Get your spring cleaning done early and bring your home and office recyclables for FREE to the SU Recycling Event.

Items accepted include: small appliances, batteries, books, confidential papers (which will be shredded), compact fluorescent light bulbs, electronics and accessories, clothing and textiles, tools, office supplies, plastic grocery bags, Styrofoam blocks, packaging material and toner cartridges. Do not bring chemicals, hazardous materials, mattresses, or furniture. Staff will help unload heavy items. Hard drives and other storage devices will be wiped through a secure data destruction program.

Description: The YMCA Earth Service Corps is inviting local teens and adults from around the Puget Sound to discuss the environmental issues facing our communities. This forum will provide opportunities to share ideas, talk with environmental professionals, and connect with your peers about the environmental topics you care about. Description: On Saturday November 2, “Green Seattle Day,” hundreds of volunteers will plant thousands of native trees and shrubs in 17 parks throughout Seattle. This annual event is organized by the Green Seattle Partnership which is now the largest urban forest restoration project in the nation! Join in the fun and have a hand in planting Seattle’s future forest! Seattle University’s Green Team, Food with Spirit, and CEJS will help out at the Maple Wood Playfield together with the Student Conservation Association (SCA). All community members are welcome, no experience is necessary. The event is family friendly and open to all ages. Tools, gloves, plants, coffee, snacks, and instruction will be provided. The sessions are intended to provide an informal setting in which you will strengthen connections with like-minded students and hear about upcoming opportunities. Description: The Environmental Studies program in conjunction with the Center for Environmental Justice and Sustainability (CEJS) will be hosting a discussion with author Timothy Wise on his new book "Eating Tomorrow: Agribusiness, family farmers and the battle for the future of food." As Director of the Land and Food Rights Program at Small Planet Institute and senior research fellow at Tufts University's Global Development and Environment Institute, Wise has researched farm policy and agricultural development in Mexico, Malawi, Tanzania, Mozambique, Zambia, and India. He will share his insights with us on family farming and feeding the world in the context of climate change.
